Piccadilly is one of my favorite places on earth. It is full of organizations with 'royal' in their name. All of these organizations are committed to making the world better and most of them are open to anyone who decides to become involved.

In fact all this 'royal' business makes for some very good value government. Most of these outfits are self funding and do good work that would otherwise be done at public expense. In return for selfless labour the member gets to meet other socially concerned individuals, access to a luxurious clubhouse and some obscure rights such as the right to dress in a weird tricorn hat, blow trumpets on the Thames, drink Madeira wine and count swans for the Queen. (The Queen buys the drinks.)

It would be interesting to calculate the economic value of many thousand organisations that members of the royal family are patron of. My own guess is that it exceeds the cost of maintaining them many fold.
The Royal Institution is the oldest scientific research institution in the world. They sometimes (slightly bombastically) claim to have 'invented' science. There is some truth in this claim because the institution was the first to carry out research in the modern manner with peer review and an emphasis on systematic experimentation.
The heyday of the Royal Institution was the time of Michal Faraday, the great rock star scientist of the British Empire. This man could not leave the house without being mobbed by women who would sometimes faint with excitement at seeing him. He instituted the Christmas Lectures to encourage an interest in science among the Victorian public.
Since these heady days the status of science has declined along with the fortunes of the British Empire. Maybe the two are linked?
I believe in science but do not follow it as my mind is forced to think of more practical matters these days. My real reason for joining (apart from loving its public work) is that it allows the use of letters after ones name.
Part of me feels this is slightly fraudulent. I am associating myself with some of the greatest minds in history without ever having done anything to deserve it apart from pay a membership fee of 28 a year.
I do this because employers expect far more from their employees than they ever did in the past. It is now quite common for employers to prefer security guards with degrees and I do not have one. Letters after my name evens up the score a great deal. If someone ask me what they mean I will be truthful- but the Queen says I can use them and who am I to argue?

I was recommended a book on the law of attraction so fervently that I went out and bought it. We are all looking for hope.
This brought me to a meeting that resembled a revivalist meeting where (mostly women) related their salvation stories. I thought 'why not give the mind a rest?'. I was tired and frightened because I had no money or job. Simple ideas are always attractive when afraid.
The law of attraction simply states that you get what you focus upon. This is magical thinking pure and simple. Years ago I was a magnet for violent and crazy women and I cured this simply by changing my view on women. I forced myself to believe that women could behave as thinking adults. This was an act of faith at the time because I was literally being punched by complete strangers- yet I realised that other men were being treated a great deal better simply because they expected women to be sane. These demonic women have now disappeared from my life completely. They have not been replaced by angels but by people I can at least negotiate with.
So.. I read a long and hypnotically phrased book and did my exercises. I was (and still am) unemployed but I wrote down the best outcomes I could believe in.
I had an interview on Monday with an employment advisor who had the power to stop my money if she felt I was not searching for work. I could have taken a defensive stance but I chose to see her as an ally. As a result I passed with flying colours and was even given free training. I also noticed that I was applying for more jobs. My output rose from around four applications a week to seven a day. This was not because I was working any harder but because I was more purposeful in my job hunting. I was sending out fewer C.V's to people who did not want them and finding more actual vacancies.
Tomorrow I have an interview for which I am well prepared and over qualified. There is absolutely no reason for them not to employ me if a job exists. My problem has been that many companies interview people even when there is no vacancy (I have no idea why). I will take the attitude that I am in the office to pick up my uniform and start that night. Maybe this will affect them on some subtle level.
I believe the law of attraction works. There is nothing magical about it but it simply causes us to act in more constructive ways.
NB The interview was a complete wash out. I arrived at the company HQ and was kept waiting on the doorstep for a while. Eventually someone let me in and told me that they had no vacancies. I asked if I could at least leave my C.V and was told 'don't bother, mate'. In fact the interview had been set up by a person with no authorisation to do so and the manager had known that I was coming for six or eight hours prior to my arrival. The reason he had not called me was because he 'wanted to see what I looked like'. This was despite all my efforts to be a Pollyanna in advance of the event.

The really interesting thing about self described submissive women is their personal power. Watch this video and feel the force of this woman's charisma. I feel quite sorry for her man the day she decides he is not doing a good job of controlling her!
This is quite funny. This woman has a mild and nerdy husband (who she has an open relationship with) who wrote a book called 'Tame your woman'. The irony is that he appears to have done this on her orders.
Actually I like this woman a great deal. I find her attractive and she talks sense. She is trying to free women from the need to be in control all the time but I do not think she has achieved this herself.
Here we go again. JuJu mamma is interviewed by another Alpha submissive in front of an audience of Alpha submissives. Both women drag their meek and 'dominant' husbands along as they rant on and on about submission. Beyond parody.
